10 Things I learned from being pregnant

I've wanted to do this post for well over a year now but somehow have never found the time or nerve to do so. Until now. Let me just say that in lots of unexpected ways your world changes when you are expecting.

1. When you are pregnant people's ability to use tact disappears completely! For example when in line at the grocery store a stranger proclaims: "You are just huge! You are gonna pop any second now!"

2. Also people's idea a your personal bubble goes out the window. I nearly had a panic attack every time a complete stranger would reach out and try to touch my belly. Yes there is a cute little baby under there but it's still my belly you are touching!

3. Things with your body get weird. Especially if you are pregnant in the summer. Ever seen a case of elephantitus in the feet? That's what swollen pregnant woman feet look like. For real.

4. There suddenly becomes no middle ground. Either you love or hate something. I don't care really means that I don't have the mental fortitude to make a decision/opinion/etc about whatever.

5. There are things you did not want to know, see, hear or smell but you will because you are there and have too. Sorry that's just how it is.

6. Your boobs will take on a life of their own. My boobs had their own zipcode and apparently did not get the memo about there being no PMS during pregnancy.

7. Food is the best thing on earth. Seriously! Sex, pedicures, a massage, what have you; nothing beats eating when you are pregnant. (And are not having morning/night sickness)

8. Time lapses at completely different speeds! One day your barely showing and can't wait to look pregnant the next minute you are literally counting down the seconds to your due date.

9. Being pregnant is like having an inner out-of-body experience. Your body is not yours any more but some how you know everything that is going on and everything you do to your body isn't really for you any more either.

10. There is absolutely no other experience in this world like being pregnant. Whether you had the easiest or hardest pregnancy ever at the end you get to say: I grew a tiny human!
